Mitsui Nōkan Woodworks – Crafting Memory Through Wood
During the Japanese era, my great-grandfather traveled from Miaoli to the mountain town of Liugui, Kaohsiung, where he established a camphor oil company called Mitsui Nōkan.
Years ago, while participating in a field research project, I stumbled upon this remarkable part of our family’s history. Inspired by his legacy, we revived the Mitsui Nōkan name — not for camphor oil this time, but for fine handcrafted pens.
Using locally sourced Taiwanese wood, we now craft fountain pens and rollerball pens by hand. Each piece carries not just the warmth of natural materials, but the spirit of generations past.
We also offer custom creations using reclaimed wood from old window frames or antique furniture, giving forgotten materials new life and preserving memories that matter — forever embedded in the grain.
